What's Going on at Open?
Wrapping up another successful year at Open High School
Open High School Staff are CPR/First Aid/AED Certified!
On Saturday, April 5, 2014, nine Open High School staff members spent their Saturday morning learning about how to save lives. American Red Cross trainer Jill Diefenbach provided OHS staff with CPR, First Aid, and automated external defibrillator (AED) training. This training is now required for all educators as they apply for their license through the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE). Several other educators from Richmond Public Schools joined our group, making for a fun and important session that is designed to train us to assist anyone who needs help. For more information about the VDOE requirement, please click the link below. Thank you to the training participants for taking this important step and to Ms. Diefenbach for providing the training.

The MathScience Innovation Center’s mission is “to be the innovator, incubator and advocate of 21st
Century math and science programs for the Capital region’s K-12 educators and students.”
During the 2012 - 2013 school year, Open High School students benefitted from the Center's unique approach to teaching and learning. Math and science classes participated in special lessons delivered by MSiC staff, and our newest mathematics teachers received support from MSiC staff to improve instruction. Additionally, Open High students participated in the spring 2013 Let's Innovate! Conference.
I look forward to even greater involvement in the coming year with this tremendous education asset that is housed right here in Richmond. Please click on the picture to your left to access the Center's web page.
